It’s a dangerous world out there — and one woman isn’t taking any chances.
TikTok user Victoria Kokhan has gone viral on social media after sharing the extreme safety measures she takes while staying at hotels — leaving the internet asking: cautious, or crazy?
The risk-averse traveler showed herself MacGyver-ing an elaborate, additional security system on a locked hotel room door, in a clip that has clocked up more than 12 million views and a whole lot of controversy.
With at least a front desk clerk in most lobbies and a keycard now often required to access individual floors, most Americans usually feel secure in their hotel rooms — but not Kokhan.
The safety-conscious content creator told her rapidly- swelling audience she takes seven separate security steps when traveling, to ensure no one breaks into her suite.
First, the mom puts a “Do Not Disturb” sign on her hotel room’s door, before locking it.
Then, the vigilant blond plugs the peephole with wet tissues so no prying eyes can see inside.
Then to further stymie unwelcome guests, Kokhan also uses a bathroom washcloth to fasten any gaps in the door’s deadbolt. She subsequently places the room’s complimentary ironing board against the door to further secure the entryway.
Kokhan then grabs a “medium-sized towel” to tie behind the door handle, before finally placing a coat hanger against the deadbolt for additional security.
While some praised the mom for her elaborate safety method, others claimed the content creator was over-the-top with her precautions.
“If I’m that scared, I’m not leaving the house,” one critic savagely stated.
“Where the hell are you staying for all of this to be necessary?” a second viewer quizzed.
Others insisted that the method might be more of a safety hazard than a safety hack.
“Imagine trying to get out of that in the dark in a fire in the middle of the night,” a TikTok user tartly declared.
Kokhan isn’t the first woman to cause a sensation online after sharing hotel safety tips.

Walder revealed that she always requests a room between the third and sixth floors because they’re high enough to be safe from intruders, but low enough to evacuate easily in case of an emergency.
