These airports are just plane amazing.
Japan’s Tokyo International Airport, otherwise known as Haneda Airport, took first place in the Cabin Crew HQ — a new blog for flight attendants and airline crew — ranking of the world’s best airports.
The results are based on evaluations of parking costs, passenger count, average on-time flights and the availability of shops and restaurants with data collected from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and The Official Aviation Guide of the Airways, giving each hub a score of up to 100.
Japan’s Tokyo International Airport received an impressive score of 80 due to its approximately 88% on-time flight average and a plethora of dining and shopping options.
The US was well-represented in the overall top 10, including Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in Georgia, which had the highest passenger count of all, in the No. 2 spot with a score of 75.18.
Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport came in third with a 71.04 ranking and an on-time flight average of 77.2%, followed by two Texas airports, Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston came in fifth and sixth, respectively.
The best 10 closes out with Denver International Airport in Colorado at No. 8 and Charlotte Douglas International Airport in North Carolina in the last top spot.
Elsewhere on the 10-best list takes travelers to Mexico City, Delhi and Istanbul.
Despite not making the overall cut, a few other US airports showed up in the sub-rankings.
Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in Washington state boasted an on-time rate of 79.9%, placing them in the fifth spot among airports with fewest delays during arrival and departure.
It may come as no surprise to some Post readers that New York City’s John F. Kennedy International Airport appeared on the list for airports with the best dining options at no. 4, followed closely by their sister-hub, Newark International in New Jersey.
However, just last month, J.D. Power crowned Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport as the best mega airport in North America, while Newark Liberty International Airport was named the worst.
Tampa International Airport was the best in the large airport category, while Indianapolis International Airport took the cake for medium airports.
Their results, however, differed from those of Travel and Leisure Magazine, whose readers voted New Hampshire’s Manchester-Boston Regional Airport as the best in the country.
