Travel expert shames passengers with this one ‘annoying’ plane habit

It’s just plane rude.

A travel expert has gone viral on TikTok after revealing the “annoying” habit of which many airline passengers are guilty during a flight.

Chicago-based Jess Bohorquez, who runs a travel hacks account dubbed “Points By J,” shared a video that targeted armrest hogs, saying it’s inconsiderate to others on the aircraft.

“If you have the distinct luxury of having a window or an aisle seat do not take over both armrests,” Bohorquez implored. “Let that poor person in the middle have one thing, which is both armrests.”

Many TikTok users agreed with the expert’s sentiment, with one adding that official airline policy should secure both armrests for lowly middle seat users.

“I wish the flight attendants would make that announcement,” they declared.

Another viewer chimed in claiming that they had once been embroiled in a mile-high spat with a selfish armrest hog: “I had to passive-aggressively fight 7 hours for the armrest.”

Elsewhere in the viral video, Bohorquez unveiled more common ways that people make themselves a nuisance to fellow travelers, such as being unprepared and inefficient.

“Boarding an airplane is a team sport and our goal is to leave on time, so it should not take you really more than four seconds to put your stuff in the overhead bin and take your seat,” she said.

Bohorquez also warned against getting too friendly with fellow passengers, saying most travelers want to relax and unwind on board an aircraft — and not engage in mundane conversation.

“Do not ask your neighbor more than two questions in a row because we are always reading the room on an airplane and we do not want to annoy our fellow passengers,” she instructed.

Finally, Bohorquez urged all airline travelers to keep their socks on for the duration of the flight so as not to cause a literal and metaphorical stink.

The travel expert isn’t the first to go viral on TikTok by sharing her airline etiquette list.

Earlier this year, Seattle-based influencer Ben Keegan shared a list of things to do on board an aircraft, sparking fierce debate after saying you should always check with the person behind you before reclining your seat.
