Raiders defensive tackle Adam Butler wasn’t feeling the love from his former coach on Sunday after Las Vegas defeated the New England Patriots.
Butler had spent four years playing for Bill Belichick and Pats, but when the final whistle blew and the Raiders handed New England its fifth loss of the season, Belichick didn’t have the courtesy of saying good game to his former player.
And Butler wasn’t going to let that slide without saying something.
“It did make me very upset that Bill didn’t even have the respect to say anything to me after the game,” Butler told reporters at his locker.
“Not even congratulate me, tell me, ‘You look good,’ or, ‘You don’t look good,’ ‘Kiss my a–,’ something. He didn’t say anything. Kind of felt disrespected, made me feel bad. I know Coach Belichick has bigger things to worry about obviously. They’re going through a tough time, but I mean geez, wave, something. But nothing.”
Butler wasn’t wrong about what could be on Belichick’s mind, considering where the Patriots stand through the first six games of the season.
New England is last the AFC East and has just one win to its name.
Butler appeared in 70 games between regular season and playoffs from 2017 to 2020.
He signed as an undrafted free agent and was part of the last Patriots team to win a Super Bowl.
Butler also had a stop in Miami after New England before eventually ending up in Sin City.
In the Raiders’ 21-17 win, Butler recorded his first sack of the season.
The Raiders have several former Patriots on their roster, including wide receiver Jakobi Meyers who also said he didn’t get the chance to catch up with Belichick after pulling down five receptions for 61 yards, including 12-yard touchdown in the second quarter.
However, Meyers didn’t seem upset about it, according to Sports Illustrated.
“It’s cool, though,” Meyers said.
