Doctor says your sex life may improve — if you drink this: ‘That was wild’

Rise and grind!

Dr. Karan Rajan — a surgeon with the UK’s National Health Service and a TikToker who goes by Dr. Raj — is highlighting the potential link between drinking coffee and experiencing intense orgasms.

Rajan floated the hypothesis while responding last week to two TikTokers’ caffeine-sex claims.

“I just found out that if you drink coffee before sex it intensifies your orgasm by 50%,” one woman gushes.

Another woman pours herself three shots of espresso.

“That was wild,” she says, implying that caffeine did the trick.

Rajan explained that in low doses, caffeine “has mainly a vasoconstrictor effect” — it narrows blood vessels. But in higher doses, “it has a vasodilator effect,” which means that it “widens the blood vessels and improves blood flow.”

He then described how blood flow to the genitals affects orgasms and arousal.

“The better your circulation, the more flow to your erectile tissue,” he said. “Thus, the more likely you are to reach states of arousal that sets the stage for a great [orgasm].”

Rajan said caffeine’s stimulating effects could increase focus, heart rate and alertness, triggering people to be more “active.”

In his minute-long TikTok, which has stirred up 2.1 million views, he cited animal research that “suggests a correlation between caffeine and sex.”

He referenced a study published in 2005 in the peer-reviewed journal Pharmacology Biochemistry & Behavior.

“Female rats who were administered caffeine engaged in more hanky panky,” he said of the study, adding, “There’s no real research into whether that can extend into the genitalia of humans.”

He encouraged people to conduct their own research.

“It does seem like a fairly benign experiment, so do whatever you need to float your erogenous boat,” he said.

Commenters on Rajan’s video have bean there, done that.

“My grandma can confirm,” one joked.

“Been doing this for a while,” a second laughed.

“Not only do I feel like a study with humans would be easy to do, but I’d also like to volunteer to get paid to do this,” offered a third.

Coffee has several reported benefits that go beyond the bedroom. One study found that simply looking at coffee can make you feel more awake. Another determined that people who drink coffee daily live longer.
