Should you shower before sex? Debate rages: ‘Some of y’all are nasty’

Do you get clean before you get dirty?

Debate has erupted as to whether people should shower before sex amid Europe’s biblical bedbug infestations.

Blogger Carla Belucci appeared on “Good Morning Britain” on Thursday, urging people to “freshen up” before hitting the sheets and adding that it could help prevent the spread of the bloodsucking parasites.

However, presenter Ellie Phillips hit back, claiming that sneaking off to shower could kill the mood and stop any spontaneous fun from happening.

“I don’t want anything smelling — feet, breath, anything,” Belucci declared as she debated Phillips on the UK morning show. “For me, it has to be clean; if not, I get the ick.”

“Even if I had to sit in the sink, I would do it,” the blogger added. “Just freshen up. I would be uncomfortable otherwise.”

She said being clean made for a more enjoyable sexual experience overall and wasn’t just to prevent the spread of bedbugs.

But the recent rise in cases seemingly isn’t enough for Phillips to delay getting frisky.

“How soon before the act are you having to shower — is it five minutes, is it 10 minutes?” she asked Belucci.

“Because for me, if I’m going on a date night with my husband, we go out for dinner, we go to the theater, we come home, and we want to have a bit of fun time,” she continued. “We’re just going to let it happen — we’re going to go with it.”

The TV presenter added that people should already be clean enough before hitting the sheets — and urged viewers not to sleep with anyone who wasn’t.

“I think if I had to tell someone to go and have a shower, I’d be concerned about their general personal hygiene,” she explained. “Because I think if you’re going to sleep with someone and you’re worried about where they’ve been, then maybe you shouldn’t be sleeping with them.”

“Good Morning Britain” fans were similarly divided about pre-sex cleaning, though with many saying showering was a must.

“Some of y’all are nasty … It feels so nice to have a shower/bath and put on something nice. A sweaty body on you is gross,” one wrote on X, while another agreed, saying in YouTube comments, “Doing it after you’ve both showered is guaranteed magic, each and every time.”

Many European cities are currently in the midst of a bedbug infestation, with mattresses seen piled up on the streets of Paris earlier this week.

Infestations are also occurring in other cities, including London and Amsterdam, sparking widespread alarm.

Recently, a train passenger went viral after donning a full hazmat suit like an Ebola worker to ride the Eurostar train around the continent, as seen in a video with 1.4 million views on TikTok.
