Chargers, Cowboys fight on field before ‘Monday Night Football’ matchup

The Chargers and Cowboys couldn’t wait ’til kickoff.

The teams, slated for an 8:15 p.m. ET start on “Monday Night Football,” faced off as combatants in a pregame fight at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, Calif.

The skirmish started when Cowboys players ran through a drill being conducted by Chargers defensive backs.

Dallas’ Mazi Smith and Los Angeles’ Dean Marlowe exchanged words before the two squads became heated.

Cowboys defensive end Dante Fowler appeared to punch Austin Ekeler, dislodging the Chargers running back’s helmet and sending him fleeing from the melee.

The scuffling lasted almost 30 seconds before coaches, staff and officials broke it up — though not before the stage was set for what promises to be a feisty end to Week 6.

Both teams are looking for some momentum this season, and a win over the other would certainly provide that.

It marked the second pre-game fireworks on the week, with the Browns and 49ers getting heated before their game on Sunday.
