“The best thing that ever could have happened” is coming to New York City’s Hudson Theatre starting Tuesday, Sept. 19.
On that day, previews begin for the 1981 Broadway flop turned highly-anticipated revival of Stephen Sondheim’s classic “Merrily We Roll Along,” starring Daniel Radcliffe, Lindsay Mendez and Jonathan Groff.
And the town is abuzz.
When the show premiered off-Broadway last winter, the New York Post’s Johnny Oleksinksi gave “Merrily” a glowing four-star review.
“This musical is intelligent, hilarious, human, heartfelt and alive,” he wrote. “It makes you — gasp — think.”

“Merrily We Roll Along” 2023 schedule
On Tuesday, Sept. 19, “Merrily” debuts at New York City’s Hudson Theatre.
From there, the show will run six to seven times a week — typically going dark on Sundays and Mondays in previews — before it officially opens on Tuesday, Oct. 10.
Matinees will take place on Wednesdays at 1 p.m., Saturdays at 2 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m.

However, for those wondering how audiences are reacting, word on the street is quite favorable too.
