NFL Week 6 predictions: Bet the favorite in this key AFC South clash

Home team in CAPS:

Sunday

JAGUARS (-4) over Colts

Trevor Lawrence continues to strive to capitalize on his opportunities. He has racked up close to 1,300 passing yards during the regular season. Our primary concerns with Lawrence are his occasional underperformances when favored. With Indy QB Anthony Richardson out with injury, Gardner Minshew should manage to step in and contribute his best work. Not sold that the Colts can keep pace against the improving Jags here.

Eagles (-7) over JETS

After taking care of the Rams, Philly is busily maintaining its upper-crust standard of player performance with five consecutive league wins. The Eagles looking to secure comfortable win.

BILLS (-14.5) over Giants

We refuse to nitpick with Josh Allen’s seasonal performances, given his overall career record. With more than 1,400 yards in completions, he has hit the target with better than 73 percent of his tosses.

Ravens (-4) over TITANS

The Steelers played it tighter than the Ravens in that 17-10 Baltimore loss. No sin! In this NFL Network London feature, we continue to respect and support QB Lamar Jackson, and have nothing but praise for his passing numbers.

FALCONS (-2.5) over Commanders

The Birds followed directions with Desmond Ritter calling the shots, and it has worked thus far, with TEs Jonnu Smith and Kyle Pitts, WR Drake London and RB Bijan Robinson sparking the nest. Sustained tenacious defense remains an Atlanta standby.

Vikings (-3) over BEARS

Expect Minnesota to wrest an early lead and carry that advantage into the second half.

We then expect this divisional contest to become closer, with the Vikes engineering a narrow escape.

Typical contentious divisional!

Seahawks (+2.5) over BENGALS

Cincinnati has demonstrated its quality, balanced talents and should be tough at home with a functioning Joe Burrow at QB, but the ’Hawks are a proven entity with postseason experience. Take the points with QB Geno Smith in contentious tussle.

San Francisco (-8.5) over CLEVELAND

Of the two undefeated regular-season franchises, the Niners have been the more impressive.

QB Brock Purdy has made all the teams that passed him by in multiple rounds of the 2022 draft look the worse for wear.

DOLPHINS (-13.5) over Panthers

Miami QB Tua Tagovailoa continues to surpass expectations, with 11 touchdown passes already registered to date.

Not sold that Carolina’s talent can keep up the pace for three hours.

Saints (-1.5) over TEXANS

This is not quite the kind of offensive attack New Orleans fans may be used to, but so long as ball control remains the order of the day, denizens of the Superdome should remain satisfied — so long as more wins than losses ensue.

RAIDERS (-3) over Patriots

The Patriots aren’t exactly burning up the scoreboard, given they have failed to score a touchdown in back-to-back games, including getting shut out last week.

Bill Belichick remains on the pace, but the Raiders should approach this matchup with some marginal inherent advantage.

Betting on the NFL?

RAMS (-7) over Cardinals

The Cards have occasionally displayed their top form this season — sometimes when least-expected — but with Cooper Kupp back in the fold for this favorite, the Rams may boast too many threats for these outmanned Cards.

BUCCANEERS (+3) over Lions

Make no mistake, the Lions are improved and dangerous, behind underrated QB Jared Goff.

Given time, he has a way of efficiently finding his receivers.

Bucs QB Baker Mayfield should be fresh and fit after freshening during his bye week, after making short work of the Saints.

Looms a close call, but believe the underrated Bucs find a way.

Monday

Cowboys (-2.5) at CHARGERS

QB Dak Prescott has been doing his part, having thrown for better than 1,000 yards with a completion percentage of close to 70.

Give the ’Boys a slight edge, even though there’s no reason for Chargers QB Justin Herbert to lose sleep. He’s doing just fine … with his 71 percent completion rate leading the parade.
