Aaron Rodgers continues to amaze Jets brass — even in his recovery from Achilles surgery.
When reflecting on Sunday’s thrilling 20-14 win over the Eagles, head coach Robert Saleh said he’s heard Rodgers is “absolutely dominating rehab” as the star quarterback makes his way back to the field after tearing his left Achilles tendon in Week 1.
“He is on a mission. I don’t put anything past him. I’ve heard he’s absolutely dominating rehab and he really wants to get back this year,” Saleh told NBC Sports’ Peter King as part of his “Football Morning in America” column.
“That’s why getting wins like this and staying in it and staying in the hunt, giving him that opportunity to fulfill his mission, is so vital.”
Rodgers, 39, has been adamant about returning to action this season after undergoing surgery in September.
Prior to kickoff on Sunday, the four-time league MVP was seen throwing on the field at MetLife Stadium.
“Everyone’s in awe that he’s even walking. He’s a freakazoid,” Saleh said of Rodgers, who was stationary but stepping into his throws.
Rodgers was seen on the sideline during the game as the Jets earned their first-ever franchise victory against the Eagles.
The Jets now enter the bye week at 3-3.
Rodgers revealed earlier this month that one caveat to his return this year would be if the Jets are in the playoff hunt.
“It’s pretty obvious I’m well ahead of the normal protocols when it comes to rehab for this kind of thing … but, obviously I’d like us to be alive and winning for that even to be in the conversation,” Rodgers said on “The Pat McAfee Show.”
“I don’t think it hurts at all to put that into the manifestation Zeitgeist and with all the modalities that we’re doing, I feel like we’ve put ourselves in a position to make that decision at some point.”
The road to the postseason won’t be easy for the Jets, who have matchups against the Chargers, Bills and Dolphins all on deck.
The Jets will face the Giants upon their return in Week 8.
